It was a dream in the hearts of the immigrants of Worthington, Minn. and their families in Guatemala. One day, they hoped to be together again. As a result of months of planning and preparation, that dream came true for fourteen U.S. born children of immigrant parents. In July, 2013, volunteers of Abuelos y Nietos Juntos traveled with the children to Guatemala where they met for the first time their extended families their. For those who were part of that incredible venture, it was an experience that is difficult to put into words.
Since the 2013 trip, Abuelos y Nietos Juntos has expanded their vision to include a more holistic approach toward immigration and the issues caused by immigration.
Currently, Abuelos y Nietos Juntos is in the process of receiving their 501(c)3 status. This will allow them to continue growing their mission.
